Real Estate Brokers Deceived Bandlaguda Resident, Swindling Rs 3 Lakh; One Arrested
Hyderabad: Bandlaguda Police have exposed a property mortgage fraud in which real estate brokers pretended to be house owners and duped victims of substantial amounts of money. One of the accused has been arrested, while four others are still on the run, following a case that came to light after a woman was defrauded of Rs 3 lakh.
The case was registered after receiving a complaint from Mohammed Nusrath Begum, a resident of Bandlaguda. She alleged that she had paid Rs 3 lakh after being misled into believing that the accused were the genuine owners of a house offered on mortgage.
During the investigation, police discovered that the accused, all working as real estate brokers, had devised a systematic plan to deceive unsuspecting individuals. They would take houses on rent, falsely claim ownership, and execute fake mortgage agreements to collect large sums of money from victims.
The primary accused, Shaik Omer Amoodi (24), was apprehended on March 25 based on credible information. During questioning, he confessed to his role in the fraud and revealed the involvement of four associates: Mohammed Bin Osman Masqati, Mohammed Basith, Ali Jabri, and Shakeer Hussain, who are currently absconding.
Police suspect that several more victims may have been cheated using the same method. Efforts are underway to trace the money trail, identify additional victims, and apprehend the absconding accused.
To prevent such frauds, the police have advised the public to remain cautious while entering into property transactions. It is crucial to thoroughly verify ownership documents and seek legal advice before making any payments.
The Bandlaguda Police are urging anyone who believes they may have been a victim of a similar scam to come forward and report the incident. This proactive approach will help in building a stronger case and ensuring that justice is served.
