Police reached the spot on receiving information and checked the CCTV footage of the area. They have formed teams to nab the assailants. The victim, Dheeraj Sharma, is a resident of Sunny Enclave and runs a real estate company named Balaji Estate near UCO Bank on Desu Majra Road.

Dheeraj Sharma told the police he was going to Palhedi village in his car with his friend, Jasjit Singh, when they were shot at in Sector 123 around 10pm. He said the bullet hit the bumper below the headlight. He and his friend ducked under the seats to save their lives and drove the car forward.

When other vehicles arrived on the road, the attackers took advantage of the darkness and fled towards Mullanpur, said the complainant. The incident was immediately reported to the police by Dheeraj. After the incident, the Mohali police put up nakas and started searching vehicles in the Airport Road-New Chandigarh area.

The police are treating the incident as a serious matter and are conducting a thorough investigation. They are also appealing to the public for any information that might help in catching the perpetrators.
