The land acquired in Katraj, located at Survey No. 1/2 B (part), falls under the 60-metre Development Plan (DP) road. It is a significant bottleneck in the area's traffic flow and is crucial for the construction of a flyover to ease traffic congestion.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) paid ₹20 crore as cash compensation to the owner of the 3,968 square feet land parcel.
The acquired land will be handed over to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for the construction of a six-lane flyover at Katraj Junction. The flyover will stretch 1,326 metres in length and 24.20 metres in width, running from the Pune-Mumbai Bypass to the Kondhwa-Katraj Road.
The key officials involved in the land acquisition process include Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, Additional Commissioner Prithviraj BP, and officials from the land acquisition and management department.
The construction of the flyover is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion at Katraj Chowk, benefiting commuters on the Katraj-Kondhwa route and improving the overall traffic situation in the region.
