Shiv Sena Backs Eknath Shinde for Maharashtra CM in Upcoming Polls
Real Estate Maharashtra:In a significant move ahead of the Maharashtra assembly polls, the Shiv Sena has thrown its support behind Eknath Shinde as the Chief Ministerial face of the Mahayuti alliance. The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Eknath Shinde's son, Shrikant Shinde, a Shiv Sena MP, with key party office bearers on Friday.

Senior leaders such as Milind Deora, Ravindra Waikar, Manisha Kayande, and Rahul Shewale were present at the meeting. Shiv Sena MLA Dilip Lande emphasized Shinde's suitability for the role, stating, “Nath ke nath, Eknath Shinde hai.” He highlighted that Shinde is a dedicated public servant who always stands by the people.

The decision came on the heels of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis hinting that Eknath Shinde could be the Mahayuti's CM face in the upcoming state assembly elections. At a joint press conference alongside CM Shinde and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Fadnavis confidently asserted, “We don't need to announce the CM's face, our CM is sitting here.” He also challenged NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar to declare the Maha Vikas Aghadi's (MVA) CM candidate.

Another leader, Prakash Surve, used the occasion to criticize the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Thackeray father-son duo, reiterating the 'traitor' label. He mentioned organizing a marathon in the national park, adding, “We got tired of waiting but these people Uddhav Thackeray and Aaditya Thackeray never picked up our calls. These people are not helpful, they are just pretenders, they should be really ousted.”

Shrikant Shinde further attacked the Thackerays, asserting that those who were born with a silver spoon wouldn't understand the common man's issues. He described the present Mahayuti government as a “government that gives and does not take.”

Manisha Kayande emphasized that since Mumbai is a Shiv Sena stronghold, the party should get more seats in the city. “There is no fixed formula. The candidate who can win will be declared... Shiv Sena has had a stronghold in Mumbai, hence it should get more seats in Mumbai,” she stated. She added that the party is contesting the Maharashtra assembly elections under Eknath Shinde’s leadership.

Meanwhile, Shinde predicted a Haryana-like outcome for the ruling Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra. He noted that the Haryana election results in 2024 surprised many, with the BJP securing an unprecedented third term, winning 48 seats in the 90-member assembly. Shinde expressed confidence that similar results could be achieved in Maharashtra due to the Mahayuti's flagship Ladki Bahin Yojana. Under this scheme, poor women receive a monthly stipend of Rs 1,500.

The Shiv Sena believes that Eknath Shinde's leadership and the government's welfare schemes will resonate with the public, paving the way for a strong showing in the upcoming elections.
