Square Yards Launches India’s First Native ChatGPT App for Property Search
Square Yards has launched what it claims to be India’s first native app on ChatGPT, revolutionizing the way users search for homes. The Gurugram-based proptech platform has made the app available to ChatGPT users in India and globally, marking a significant milestone as the first Indian enterprise and real estate platform to integrate with the OpenAI interface.
Founder and CEO Tanuj Shori emphasized that this move aligns with the company's vision of leveraging technology, data, and intelligence to transform the real estate market. “At Square Yards, we have always believed that the future of real estate is powered by technology, data, and intelligence,” Shori said. “The ChatGPT app brings our inventory intelligence and data depth directly into the conversation, making property discovery as natural as chatting.”
The app's primary goal is to make property discovery seamless and intuitive. Users can type requests such as “show me new projects in Pune under 2 crore” or ask for detailed information about a specific project. The app then surfaces curated property options within the chat interface. Once users shortlist their preferred properties, they are redirected to SquareYards.com to explore listings in detail and connect with real estate advisors.
The launch of the ChatGPT app is part of a broader global trend where major consumer platforms are extending their reach into conversational AI interfaces. This aligns with Square Yards’ larger strategy of integrating AI across the real estate transaction chain, from discovery to financing, interiors, and property management.
Square Yards is capitalizing on a fast-growing residential market in India. The company reported that registered residential transactions across eight major cities reached 5.44 lakh units in FY2025, a significant 77% increase from 3.07 lakh units in FY2019. This growth underscores the high demand for efficient and user-friendly property search solutions. Additionally, Square Yards experienced a 48% year-on-year revenue increase to ₹2,086 crore in FY26, with an EBITDA of ₹176 crore, marking its third consecutive year of profitable growth.
The ChatGPT app is not the company’s first foray into AI. Square Yards has previously developed internal tools like Super Agent Pro and has invested in AI-led workflows across customer conversations, lead scoring, and agent productivity. These efforts position the new app as a natural extension of the company’s existing technology stack, rather than a standalone experiment.
The app places Square Yards among a growing number of Indian companies leveraging generative AI not just for back-office efficiency but as a front-end customer interface. By making property search more conversational and less transactional, the app aims to reduce friction for buyers and improve lead quality for the platform. This is particularly relevant in a market where real estate decisions are often high-touch and information-intensive.
If the model proves successful, it could set a new standard for property search in India, making the process more intuitive and user-friendly. The integration of conversational AI into the real estate sector represents a significant step forward in enhancing the overall customer experience.
