The purpose of the survey is to identify and document all illegal constructions on Pune’s hilltops and BDP zones, assess their impact on the environment and urban infrastructure, and recommend measures to ensure compliance with building regulations.
The committee is composed of senior officials from the revenue and municipal departments of the state government.
The committee has been given a one-month deadline to submit its detailed report.
Hilltops and BDP zones are crucial for maintaining Pune’s ecological balance and providing space for future development. They help in preventing soil erosion, maintaining green cover, and reducing the risk of landslides.
Based on the survey findings, the government will enforce building regulations, issue legal notices, impose fines, and, if necessary, demolish illegal structures. They will also update the city’s development plan and consider using new technology to monitor and detect illegal constructions.
