A Surat revenue department official, Anant Patel, has been detained in connection with a massive land fraud involving plots worth Rs 2,000 crore. The case, lodged by real estate developer Azad Ramolia, involves multiple officials and a ghost company named Samruddhi Corporation.

Azad Ramolia, a real estate developer from Surat, filed the complaint in January 2025.
The estimated value of the land involved in the fraud is around Rs 2,000 crore.
The accused in the land fraud case include Deputy Director K D Gamit, Land Record Inspector Anant Patel, an unidentified computer operator, and the proprietors of Samruddhi Corporation.
Anant Patel was apprehended in Pune, Maharashtra.
The police are questioning Anant Patel and working to identify and locate the other accused involved in the case.
