Suryakumar Yadav to Rohit Sharma: Why India’s Cricket Stars Are Pouring Money into Mumbai’s Real Estate
Mumbai's rapidly growing real estate scene has witnessed heavy recent investment from prominent names within the Indian cricket fraternity. The city of dreams continues to attract high-value residential deals, reflecting the confidence of these cricket stars in the local property market.
Notably, current T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, Mumbai and India stalwart Rohit Sharma, and former pacer Zaheer Khan have collectively invested over 65 crore in Mumbai's real estate recently. Devisha Yadav, the wife of Suryakumar - the newly crowned T20 World Cup champion - bought a luxury apartment worth Rs 7.18 crore in the Deonar area of the city.
Located in the Godrej Sky Terraces project, Devisha and Suryakumar's new apartment spans across 1,500 sq ft. According to the property registration documents accessed, the couple registered the house on February 20, 2026. The transaction included stamp duty payment of Rs 35.9 lakh and registration charges of Rs 30,000.
The apartment strengthens Devisha and Suryakumar's real estate assets within Mumbai after Devisha also reportedly purchased two other apartments on the 17th and 18th floors in the same building for over Rs 21 crore. A third apartment in the same project also reflects the couple's eye towards financial growth and long-term sustainability.
Another leading Indian cricketer making property investments in Mumbai in his wife's name is Rohit, whose better half, Ritika Sajdeh, recently purchased a luxury apartment in the city's Prabhadevi area for Rs 26.30 crore. Located within the Ahuja Towers, this luxury residence spans across 2,760 sq ft. Ritika and Rohit got the house registered on December 12, 2025, with a stamp duty of Rs 1.31 crore.
Among former cricketers showing active interest in Mumbai's flourishing real estate scene is Zaheer, the 2011 World Cup champion. Zaheer and his wife Sagarika Ghatge made an apartment purchase of Rs 11 crore in the Indiabulls Sky building on Elphinstone Road in February 2025.
According to property documents accessed by CRE Matrix, the couple made a hefty purchase of Rs 37.86 crore in January of about 5 acres of land for the property in Zirad village, near the popular Awas Beach. Kohli has time and again expressed his fondness for Alibaug and thus this latest purchase comes as no surprise.
Also in Mumbai lives the mighty Sachin Tendulkar, the God of Cricket himself. Tendulkar lives in a stunning mansion with his wife Anjali and kids Sara and Arjun in Bandra. According to reports, he bought this residence for the original sum of Rs 38 crore. Initially a heritage property, this bungalow was later renovated by Tendulkar.
These investments highlight the strong financial acumen of India's cricket stars and their strategic approach to diversifying their portfolios. The robust real estate market in Mumbai, known for its high demand and potential for appreciation, continues to be a lucrative investment opportunity for these cricketing icons.
