Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Pushes for Future City-Bandar Port Connectivity
Real Estate:HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said that the Centre would soon approve the state government’s proposal to connect the Future City with Bandar port in Andhra Pradesh. Speaking after inaugurating the CREDAI Hyderabad Property Show here on Friday, he said the state government was focused on creating the infrastructure necessary for Telangana’s development.

He stated, “We have proposed the Regional Ring Road (RRR), Regional Ring Rail, and a link between the Future City and Bandar port via Amaravati in AP. These proposals have been submitted to the Centre, and permission will be granted soon.” The CM added that once the eight-lane greenfield highway between the Future City and Amaravati is completed, the distance between Hyderabad and Vijayawada would be reduced by 70 km. Railway connectivity to Bandar or any other seaport would also be provided, he asserted, emphasizing that the Future City would serve as a model for the next 1,000 years.

Revanth Reddy announced that the Telangana Rising 2047 vision document, to be released on December 9, would divide the state into three corridors — core urban (within ORR), semi-urban (between ORR and RRR), and rural (between RRR and the remaining parts of Telangana) — to develop them as service, industrial, and agricultural hubs. He reminded that all these plans require the Union government’s approval. “Some people are counting how many times I have visited Delhi. In my 50 visits, I have met Prime Minister Narendra Modi several times and submitted proposals for the state’s development,” he said.

He questioned the real estate fraternity: “If permission for high-rises is given in Bengaluru or Delhi, will you go to Dubai? I have been visiting Delhi because the Centre is the authority to give the required permissions.” He explained how the Hyderabad Metro Rail was neglected for 10 years and how he has changed its alignment to get approval from the Centre. “There is a bungalow for the chief minister in Delhi, where he can stay for four days a month to get permissions. Should I use it like a farmhouse and throw parties? I am going to Delhi to secure approvals. I will present the complete list of permissions obtained from the Centre in the Legislative Assembly,” he said.

Revanth Reddy accused the previous BRS government of borrowing at a high interest rate of 11.5% for a short term of 12 years for the Kaleshwaram project. He claimed that his government had already spent ₹29,000 crore servicing these loans. “During all my visits to Delhi, I have requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to restructure the state’s debts at lower interest rates. In the first phase, the Centre restructured ₹26,000 crore for 35 years at 7.5% interest. I am now urging the Centre to restructure ₹2 lakh crore for 35 to 40 years at the same interest rate,” he said.

He pointed out that Andhra Pradesh has six airports, while Telangana has only one. “Those who claim to have read 80,000 books never recognized the need for a second airport in the state. I have secured permissions for Warangal and Adilabad airports,” he said, again stressing the need to seek approvals and funds from Delhi. Appealing to realtors not to believe rumors, he said: “Some people are calling Future City a ‘Four Brothers City’. You are all my brothers; I am designing it for your benefit. I don’t care about others’ comments.”

Revanth Reddy recalled that when YS Rajasekhara Reddy planned the ORR, some likened it to an anaconda, and when N Chandrababu Naidu proposed HITEC City, allegations were made that it was for land dealings. He admitted that some would benefit wherever development happens. He assured that despite political differences or changes in government, the state’s core development policy would remain unchanged. “Policy without paralysis is my motto. The development initiated from Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy to Chandrababu Naidu to YS Rajasekhara Reddy has helped Hyderabad grow into a global city,” he said.

“Telangana has a rich culture. We will not compromise on development despite political differences. If anyone wants to settle scores with me personally, I will deal with them — but not at the cost of the state’s development. My government will encourage investment and progress,” he said. He cautioned investors that political parties or leaders may have their own agendas, and that individuals from certain families, castes, or regions might spread falsehoods if they feel sidelined. “Do not believe or spread such lies, as they will obstruct the state’s progress,” he told realtors.

Revanth described himself as a CM with a middle-class mindset and a strong sense of accountability, unlike others who, he alleged, looted and diverted funds abroad. “I may not grant some of your requests like they did, but I will impress you with policies that ultimately benefit people and make Hyderabad one of the top cities in the world,” he said.
