Telangana Land Registration Hits Roadblock Due to Aadhaar Glitch
Real Estate:In a sudden turn of events, property and land registration services in Telangana came to a grinding halt on Thursday. The unexpected shutdown was attributed to technical problems in the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) network, which affected Aadhaar online services across the country. As a result, Aadhaar-based OTP services and registrations were interrupted, bringing property and land registration in the state to a complete standstill.

The suspension of Aadhaar online services was a major blow to the registration process, as Aadhaar biometric is mandatorily required for all registrations. The Registration and Stamps Department's website conveyed a message to the public, apologizing for the inconvenience caused and citing fluctuations in UIDAI as the reason for the disruption.

Fortunately, the Chief Minister's Office announced that the registration services would resume by Friday. In the meantime, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy took stock of the situation, convening a review meeting with revenue-generating departments at the state Secretariat. The meeting, attended by senior officials, including Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Revenue Minister P. Srinivas Reddy, and Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, focused on reviewing revenue generation from various departments such as Finance, Commercial Taxes, Prohibition & Excise, Registration, and Mines & Geology.

The UIDAI is a statutory authority responsible for issuing Aadhaar numbers to Indian citizens. The UIDAI network is the backbone of various online services, including Aadhaar-based OTP services and registrations.

The Registration and Stamps Department is a government agency responsible for overseeing land registration and stamp duties in Telangana.
