Tesla Expands in India: Showroom in Delhi and Superchargers Rollout

New Delhi: Following the grand opening of its Experience Centre in Mumbai, Elon Musk-led Tesla is now gearing up to expand its presence in India with a new showroom in Delhi. The company has finalised a premium space in the capital and announced plans to launch multiple EV charging stations in the region.

According to NDTV, industry insiders have confirmed that Tesla has secured a 4,000-square-foot space on lease in Aerocity, one of Delhi’s most upscale commercial districts located near the Indira Gandhi International Airport. The property, part of the Worldmark complex owned by Brookfield Asset Management, has reportedly been leased for ₹25 lakh per month.

The showroom in Aerocity, a hub that houses high-end hotels, Fortune 500 companies, and luxury retail outlets, is expected to open by the end of July, according to real estate sources.

In tandem with its showroom launch, Tesla announced on Tuesday that it will install four charging stations in New Delhi. These will feature a total of 16 Superchargers and 15 Destination Chargers.

The company is actively mapping locations across the National Capital Region for its EV infrastructure, with Aerocity, Saket, Noida, and Gurugram shortlisted for future installations. In Mumbai, the company has already rolled out its charging network in areas such as Lower Parel, BKC, Navi Mumbai, and Thane — each equipped with 16 Superchargers and 16 Destination Chargers.

Tesla’s move to Delhi is part of a larger strategy to create a comprehensive EV ecosystem in India. This includes not only showrooms but also service centres, delivery hubs, logistics support, and office spaces.

Highlighting its global scale, Tesla said, “Over 8 million Tesla vehicles have been delivered across 55 countries globally, and more than 250 new features were added in 2024 alone through over-the-air (OTA) software updates.” The company aims to continue enhancing its vehicles with such updates and expand the reach of its autonomous technology, Optimus, into new markets.

Globally, Tesla operates more than 7,000 Supercharging stations equipped with over 70,000 Superchargers.

The company also announced its commitment to building a local workforce in India. “Indian citizens will be hired to lead the company’s operations in the country -- ensuring homegrown leadership for a global brand,” Tesla said.
