The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, initial reports suggest that the drums of chemicals, such as sodium chloride, exploded due to the fire.
Three workers, including a woman, were injured in the fire. They were Renuka Gaikwad (40), Mohit Raj Chaudhary (49), and Sandip Shendkar (49).
The injured workers were initially admitted to a private hospital in Ghotawade Phata. Shendkar and Chaudhary were later shifted to a private hospital in Pune, while Gaikwad was moved to a private hospital in Mulshi.
The fire was brought under control within half an hour by the firemen from the PMRDA fire brigade.
The Paud police are verifying if the unit was operating with all required permissions. Further actions will be decided based on the verification results.
