TNRERA Mandates Display Boards for Greater Transparency in Real Estate Projects
Real Estate:CHENNAI: In a move to ensure transparency in the real estate sector, the Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA) has ordered all promoters to install display boards providing details of the project at their sites. This initiative aims to provide clear and accessible information to potential buyers and the public, thereby fostering trust and accountability in the industry.

As per a circular issued by the TNRERA recently, the display boards should be installed in the project site abutting the public road with a size of at least 2 feet x 4 feet. The boards must be prominently displayed to ensure they are easily visible to passersby and potential buyers.

The boards should have details including the name of the promoter, name of the project, TNRERA registration details, date of completion as per TNRERA registration, and the website address of TNRERA. The details should be mentioned in a readable font size in the display board, and it should be a separate board and not as part of other display boards, the circular said.

The display board shall be installed at the project site after obtaining TNRERA registration, and the proof of installation shall be certified by the Engineer/Architect who is connected with the project, accompanied by site photographs. This requirement ensures that the information is accurate and up-to-date.

According to the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, promoters are also required to provide TNRERA registration numbers in their advertisements. This regulation further enhances transparency and helps potential buyers verify the legitimacy of the project. Additionally, the Tamil Nadu Combined Development and Building Rules, 2019, mandate that promoters and builders install display boards with details of planning permission approvals at the sites.

The implementation of these regulations is expected to significantly improve the real estate sector in Tamil Nadu. By providing clear and accessible information, the TNRERA aims to protect the interests of homebuyers and investors, reduce the risk of fraudulent practices, and promote a more ethical and transparent market.

This move by the TNRERA is a positive step towards building a more reliable and trustworthy real estate industry in Tamil Nadu. It sets a high standard for transparency and accountability, which is crucial for the long-term growth and stability of the sector.
