Tragic Death of Jaipur Businessman Vallabh Maheshwari in BMW i7 Crash Raises Safety Concerns
The Managing Director of Jaipur-based Shakun Group, Vallabh Das Maheshwari, died in a tragic car accident on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway. This incident has raised serious questions about the safety of the high-performing BMW i7, a vehicle known for its cutting-edge technology and advanced safety features.
Vallabh Maheshwari, a 62-year-old entrepreneur, dedicated three decades to the growth and expansion of the Shakun Group. His business empire spanned various sectors, including advertising, infrastructure, real estate, and hospitality. Among his numerous companies were SGM Buildcon, Shakun Communication Infrastructure, Shakun Advertising, Manokamna Real Estate, and N.S. Publicity India. Maheshwari was also known for his philanthropic efforts through the Roop Shakun Foundation, which engaged in various social initiatives. He held significant roles in Shakun Fort and Palace LLP and Shakun Realty LLP.
On Sunday, while traveling from Jaipur to Mathura, Maheshwari's BMW i7 lost control on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway near Alwar, Rajasthan. The vehicle first crashed into barricades and then struck a culvert wall. The collision was so severe that the car was almost completely destroyed. Maheshwari was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival. The driver, however, survived the accident.
The BMW i7 is often touted as one of the most technologically advanced electric luxury sedans in the world, comparable to the Mercedes-Benz EQS. It is equipped with a 101.7 kWh battery pack, delivering 449 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque. The car boasts several ultra-luxury features, including dual infotainment screens, a 31-inch 8K rear entertainment display, massage functions, executive lounge seating, a premium sound system, climate control, and advanced drive-assistance technologies.
Despite these advanced safety features, the accident has led to a critical examination of the vehicle's safety systems.
