Tragic Fall at Lohagad Fort Claims Life of Pune Man Ketan Agarwal
A 26-year-old man from Pune, Ketan Vishal Agarwal, lost his life after a devastating fall from Lohagad Fort in Maval tehsil. The incident occurred while he was on a trekking trip with his fiancée and two friends to celebrate her upcoming birthday. According to police, Agarwal slipped near a cliff edge while taking photographs and plunged nearly 400 feet into a valley, suffering fatal injuries.
Inspector Dinesh Tayde of Lonavala Rural Police Station reported that strong winds were blowing at the time of the incident, which likely contributed to the tragedy. Agarwal, a resident of Gahunje, was a director in his family-run real estate firm and was set to marry in November. His wedding was planned to take place in a palace in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
The families had already booked the venue for the ceremony, making the tragedy even more heartbreaking for his loved ones. Upon being alerted, police and members of the Shivdurg Mitra Emergency Rescue Team initiated a three-hour operation to recover Agarwal's body from the challenging terrain and dense vegetation. The body was then sent for a post-mortem examination.
Police have registered an accidental death report and are continuing their inquiries to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. Lohagad Fort, a popular tourist destination known for its historical significance and scenic views, has seen several such accidents in the past, highlighting the need for increased safety measures and awareness among visitors.
The tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the importance of exercising caution, especially in areas with steep cliffs and dangerous terrains. Visitors are urged to stay within designated safe zones and follow all safety guidelines to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
