Trai Launches Digital Connectivity Ratings for Real Estate Projects
Real Estate News:NEW DELHI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has begun assessing the quality of telecom connectivity in housing and commercial projects through its empanelled agencies. This initiative is part of the broader effort to ensure stronger digital infrastructure across residential and office spaces.

Shaurrya Teleservices, one of the first companies approved as a Digital Connectivity Rating Agency (DCRA) by Trai, has ambitious plans. The company expects to evaluate telecom network quality across over 10 million square feet of real estate by the end of this fiscal year.

“We plan to map digital connectivity ratings for large commercial developments in key cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad. The total addressable market for such ratings is estimated at around one billion square feet,” said Mahesh Choudhary, CEO of Shaurrya Teleservices.

Under Trai’s guidelines, empanelled agencies assess network coverage and signal quality both inside and around buildings. This enables real estate developers to benchmark and improve connectivity for residents and businesses. The ratings help ensure that properties are equipped with the necessary infrastructure to support modern digital needs, from high-speed internet to reliable mobile signals.

Choudhary added that developers, particularly those in the commercial real estate segment, are showing growing interest in obtaining digital connectivity ratings for their projects. The company also plans to collaborate with developer associations such as CREDAI and NAREDCO to promote awareness about the importance of connectivity certification and share best practices from early-rated projects.

The initiative is expected to have a significant impact on the real estate market, as stronger digital connectivity becomes a crucial factor for both residential and commercial properties. With the increasing reliance on digital technologies, ensuring robust telecom infrastructure is becoming a priority for developers and property buyers alike.

Trai’s program is a step forward in promoting a more connected and efficient urban landscape, aligning with the government’s vision of a digitally empowered society. As more projects are rated and certified, the overall quality of digital infrastructure in India’s urban centers is expected to improve, benefiting both residents and businesses.
