Tribal Activist from Kerala Interrogated for Alleged Extortion Attempt Against Real Estate Developer
Real Estate News:A prominent tribal activist from Kerala, Sukumaran, appeared before the Kattoor police in Coimbatore on Saturday to face inquiries regarding a case registered against him. The 64-year-old senior functionary of All India Krantikari Kisan Sabha was accused of attempting to extort a substantial amount from M Senthilnathan, director of Dream Square Builders and Promoters Pvt Ltd, a real estate development company based in Coimbatore.

According to the complaint lodged by Senthilnathan on July 11, Sukumaran had contacted him over the phone, demanding a large sum of money in exchange for allowing his company to sell properties at Nyra Resorts and Luxury Villa in Palakkad. The complainant alleged that Sukumaran had threatened him with dire consequences if his demands were not met and had also posted false information about the company on his social media page.

The police investigation revealed that Sukumaran had indeed posted a message against the real estate firm on his Facebook page, which he later removed in the presence of the authorities. Although he denied the allegations of demanding money, Senthilnathan has agreed to withdraw the complaint, and Sukumaran was let off after the inquiry.

Sukumaran, who has been working towards securing land rights for tribals in Attapadi, was booked under sections 389 and 506(ii) of the Indian Penal Code. The case highlights the importance of protecting businesses from extortion attempts and ensuring that individuals do not misuse their influence to demand money from others.
