Two Arrested for Stealing Iron Pipes from Godown in Pune
The North Mahalunge MIDC police in Pune have made significant progress in a theft case, arresting the owner of a godown and a truck driver for stealing iron pipes from the premises. The incident took place in Koregaon, located in the Khed taluka of Pune.
An officer from the North Mahalunge MIDC police provided details on the case. A construction firm had rented the accused's godown in Koregaon to store construction materials, including a significant number of iron pipes. On Monday morning, an employee of the construction firm noticed a mini-truck parked outside the godown and observed someone loading pipes from the godown into the truck.
The employee immediately raised the alarm, and the truck's driver, realizing he had been caught, attempted to flee the scene. The quick-thinking employee chased the driver and managed to apprehend him. The police were then alerted, and the driver was taken into custody.
During the interrogation, the driver confessed that the owner of the godown had instructed him to steal the iron pipes. Acting on this information, the police arrested the godown owner as well. The officer stated, 'We have arrested both the owner and the driver. Two more individuals are currently on the run, but we are confident that we will apprehend them soon.'
The police are continuing their investigation to gather more evidence and ensure that all parties involved in the theft are brought to justice. The incident has raised concerns about the security measures in place at such storage facilities and the need for stricter monitoring to prevent such incidents in the future.
The North Mahalunge MIDC police have urged the local community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. The construction firm, which suffered the theft, has also taken steps to enhance security at their storage sites to prevent similar incidents.
This case highlights the importance of maintaining robust security protocols, especially in areas where valuable materials are stored. It also underscores the role of community vigilance and quick action in preventing and resolving such crimes.
