The unified RERA portal is a nationwide centralised database for real estate projects, launched by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. It consolidates data from various state RERA portals into a single platform.
The primary purpose of the unified RERA portal is to enhance transparency and accountability in the real estate sector by making information such as approvals, project statuses, timelines, and developer histories easily accessible to homebuyers and regulators.
Maharashtra has proposed a separate RERA-like law specifically for redevelopment projects as part of its new housing policy. The law aims to address unique challenges in redevelopment projects, such as long delays and disputes over rent compensation.
Consumer groups and industry experts are concerned that the proposed redevelopment law may fragment regulation, leaving homebuyers uncertain about which authority to approach. They argue that it could complicate matters and dilute the central RERA’s authority.
The unified RERA portal was launched on September 4, 2025, by Union Housing Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar during the 5th meeting of the Central Advisory Council (CAC) at Sankalp Bhawan, New Delhi.
