Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy Embroiled in Extortion and Life Threat Scandal
A businessman and realtor has filed a complaint against Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy and former MLC Ramesh Gowda, alleging extortion and death threats over a Rs 50 crore demand for election expenses.

Gowda visited Tata's house on August 24 and demanded Rs 50 crore for election expenses for the Channapatna by-election, which was won by Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of HD Kumaraswamy. When Tata expressed his inability to pay the amount, Kumaraswamy allegedly threatened him, stating that it would be difficult for him to live in Bengaluru if he didn't comply.
Ramesh Gowda, who was present during the conversation, also demanded Rs 5 crore for building a temple and a school, warning Tata that he would face problems if he didn't pay up. The police have registered a case under section 308(2) (extortion), section 351(2) (criminal intimidation) and section 3 of the BNS.
