Giuseppe Ghislandi, also known as Giuseppe Maria Crespi, was an Italian Baroque painter active in the early 18th century. He is known for his portraits and religious paintings.
The painting was discovered through an online real estate listing, which showed the artwork hanging above a green couch in a living room. The listing was posted unwittingly by Patricia Kadgien, whose father was a top Nazi official.
