Uttar Pradesh Allocates Rs 12,000 Crore for Urban Housing under PMAY
Real Estate News:The urban housing landscape in Uttar Pradesh has received a significant boost with an allocation of more than Rs 12,000 crore to achieve the ‘Housing for All’ vision. This substantial financial support is part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) Mission 2.0, which has secured financial approval of Rs 12,031 crore.

Under this mission, the ‘double engine government’ has been instrumental in securing the necessary funds to provide pucca houses to the urban poor across Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed strict measures to ensure transparency and quality in the construction process. To achieve this, geo-tagging and photographic documentation of each house will be mandatory under PMAY (Urban). This will allow real-time monitoring of construction at every stage, ensuring that the project remains on track and meets the required standards.

Additionally, all houses will be built with disaster-resilient features to protect against earthquakes, floods, and other natural calamities. This focus on safety is a core part of the scheme, ensuring that the homes not only provide shelter but also offer a sense of security to the residents.

The cost-sharing arrangement between the Central and State governments is a 60:40 ratio, which helps to ease the financial burden on Uttar Pradesh. Each eligible beneficiary will receive Rs 2.5 lakh in assistance to help build a permanent (pucca) house. This financial support is crucial for the urban poor, who often struggle to afford safe and secure housing.

Launched on September 1, 2024, PMAY (Urban) Mission 2.0 aims to ensure that every family has a pucca house. The scheme is closely monitored by state and district-level officials to guarantee timely and quality construction. This effort not only offers social security to the urban poor but also promotes integrated urban development across the state.

The initiative is expected to have a transformative impact on the lives of the urban poor, providing them with a sense of dignity and security. It also aligns with the broader goal of creating more inclusive and sustainable cities in Uttar Pradesh.
