Water Crisis Hits Kalpataru Exquisite Society in Pune's Wakad After Heavy Rainfall
Real Estate Pune:The recent heavy rainfall in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) areas has caused widespread disruption, with many residential societies reporting severe waterlogging in their underground basements. Among the worst affected is the Kalpataru Exquisite Society in Kaspate Wasti, Wakad, where residents are still grappling with the flood situation two days after the rain.

The society, which is newly built, faces issues such as a lack of parking, electricity, and operational lifts, along with an increase in mosquitoes. However, the most pressing concern for residents is the lack of drinking water, functional toilets, and operational lifts. With basements filled with knee-deep water, daily tasks are becoming increasingly difficult, especially for senior citizens and those with medical emergencies, as access to higher floors is challenging.

According to Dattatraya Deshmukh, President of the Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Societies Federation, the society's proximity to the Mula River in Wakad has exacerbated the drainage problems. He noted that while other societies in the area have faced similar issues, they were resolved within a day or two, but the problems in Kalpataru Exquisite Society persist.

Chandrakant Indalkar, Additional Commissioner of PCMC and head of the Disaster Management Department, has assured that the ward officials have been informed about the situation and all necessary measures are being taken to address the issue. Abhishek Gupta, a resident of Sierra Tower in the society, expressed relief that a temporary solution has been found to remove the water from the basements, but emphasized that the situation remains dire.

In response to the situation, Rahul Kalate, former corporator of the area, has pledged to offer all possible support to the residents. As the situation continues to unfold, residents of Kalpataru Exquisite Society in Wakad remain hopeful that a permanent solution will be found soon.
