The Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC) is a project aimed at providing unbroken regional connectivity between Chennai and Bengaluru. It involves the improvement of highways, dedicated freight corridors, and new distribution centers to reduce travel time and logistics costs.
The BMIC will cause the growth of industrial parks and residential zones along the western axis of Bengaluru. Enhanced road and rail connectivity will uplift peripheral markets, making them attractive for investors over the next decade.
The key nodes in the HBIC include the Orvakal Industrial Area in Kurnool district. The corridor will interconnect the major economic clusters of Hyderabad and Bengaluru through a sequence of interconnected mega nodes.
The corridors will receive significant infrastructure projects, including metro extensions, the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR), and satellite towns, to enhance connectivity and quality of life.
These corridors are predicted to bring lakhs of employment opportunities, especially in manufacturing, technology, and logistics industries. The influx of workers will drive housing demand and convert previously peripheral areas into new urban centers.
