The police have registered two cases against the accused at the Sakinaka and MIDC police stations. The suspect, arrested in the Chakala area on July 5, allegedly used the pretext of offering jobs to lure the victims.
He is also accused of raping a woman in Andheri using the same ruse. Both offenses took place this month. Following his arrest, the police conducted searches at Lodha's properties in Jalgaon, Jamner, and Pahur, seizing a laptop, pen drive, and other electronic items.
The accused has been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The MIDC police took Lodha's custody after he was remanded into judicial custody in the POCSO case registered at the Sakinaka police station.
In a related incident, an airhostess was allegedly raped by her colleague in Thane district, Maharashtra. The police arrested the accused, a 25-year-old resident of the Mira Road area, on Friday in connection with the assault that took place on June 29. An FIR has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the accused.
The 23-year-old victim and her colleague, a fellow crew member, had returned to Mumbai after a work trip to London on June 29. Upon their return, the accused allegedly took the victim to his house, where he molested and raped her. Local police are further investigating the case.
