Acharya Devvrat will be sworn in as the Governor of Maharashtra on Monday at 11 am at the Darbar Hall in Raj Bhavan.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde welcomed Acharya Devvrat upon his arrival at the Mumbai Central railway station.
Acharya Devvrat was appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra by President Droupadi Murmu after the previous Governor, C P Radhakrishnan, demitted office due to his election as the next Vice-President of India.
C P Radhakrishnan defeated the joint opposition nominee B Sudershan Reddy by a margin of 152 votes in the Vice-President election.
Acharya Devvrat is currently the Governor of Gujarat and has been appointed to discharge the functions of the Governor of Maharashtra in addition to his duties in Gujarat.
