Assam Govt Secures Prime Land in Mumbai for Development Projects
Real Estate Mumbai:GUWAHATI, Aug 24: Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced that the Assam government has been allotted four bighas (around 2.5 acres) of land by the Mumbai Port Authority (MPA) for developing public infrastructure. The land, located in the prime real estate area of Mumbai’s Colaba, has been leased to the Government of Assam for a period of 60 years.

Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, Sonowal stated that the land parcel will pave the way for the state to develop essential public infrastructure that will directly benefit its citizens. The decision follows a request from the Assam Chief Secretary to the Union Ministry, seeking the allocation of land for a dedicated center or infrastructure project that can serve the long-term needs of the people.

“This is a people-first initiative. The project will be developed in line with the needs and aspirations of the people of Assam. Located at the heart of Mumbai, this will fulfill a significant aspiration of the people of Assam to have access to essential services in Mumbai city, be it for patients, students, or even entrepreneurs,” Sonowal emphasized.

While the specific plans for development are still under consideration, officials indicated that the focus will be on building infrastructure with high public utility. This includes healthcare and educational facilities, welfare and social service centers, as well as an incubation center for entrepreneurs. The 60-year lease ensures that the government has ample time and flexibility to plan and execute sustainable projects.

“Mumbai is a financial hub. With the development of this land parcel, we are confident that entrepreneurs from the state can also access the opportunities presented by the city,” Sonowal added. This initiative is expected to bridge the gap between Assam and Mumbai, providing a platform for economic and social development for the people of Assam.

The allocation of this prime land in Mumbai signifies a significant step towards enhancing the quality of life for Assam’s residents. It not only addresses immediate needs but also lays the foundation for long-term growth and development. The Assam government is committed to ensuring that the project aligns with the aspirations and requirements of its citizens, making it a landmark initiative in the state’s history.
