The Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the murder, alleging that Baba Siddique had ties with Bollywood actor Salman Khan and underworld figures Dawood Ibrahim and Anuj Thapan.
The rivalry stemmed from the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, where Salman Khan was accused of killing two blackbucks, which are sacred to the Bishnoi community.
Baba Siddique was shot near Nirmal Nagar in Bandra on Saturday. He later succumbed to his injuries.
