Notices have been issued to 188 individuals, and cases have been registered against 18 persons for bursting firecrackers and using loudspeakers. Nine illegal turf clubs and commercial units are being demolished, and bungalow owners have been directed to avoid loud music and bright lighting after dusk.
No construction material will be allowed into Yeoor without prior verification from the municipal town planning department. Vehicle and material details must also be logged at forest department check-posts.
Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao is leading the review meeting. The purpose is to assess enforcement efforts and outline new steps to curb illegal activities in the Yeoor eco-sensitive zone.
The proposed high-level coordination committee will be led by the Additional Municipal Commissioner and will include officials from the civic body, forest department, police, Air Force, FDA, MSEDCL, and local NGOs.
The main environmental concerns include illegal construction, noise pollution from loudspeakers and fireworks, and light pollution from high-powered lights and bright lighting.
