The main focus of the ED’s investigation is to determine whether funds collected from homebuyers were illegally diverted by real estate developers, leading to project delays and denial of possession to the rightful buyers.
Prominent real estate groups under scrutiny include Jaypee Group, Gaursons, Gulshan Group, and Suraksha Realty.
The probe could have far-reaching implications for the broader real estate ecosystem in India, affecting not only the four builder groups currently under the scanner but also homebuyers and investors who are hoping for justice, refunds, or timely possession of their long-delayed flats.
Regulatory authorities involved in this investigation include RERA (Real Estate Regulatory Authority) and SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India).
The raids are likely to continue over the coming days, and further seizures, arrests, or legal proceedings are expected as the ED builds its case.
