The total value of properties attached by the ED in the Vasai-Virar illegal construction case is Rs 71 crore.
Rs 44 crore of the seized assets belongs to Anil Pawar, the former chief of the Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation.
Y S Reddy, the deputy director of town planning, and two others were arrested in the case along with Anil Pawar.
The ED gathered evidence of bribes paid to officials, unaccounted cash, and valuable assets, including Rs 8.6 crore in cash and Rs 23.2 crore worth of jewellery from Y S Reddy’s residence.
The 41 buildings were demolished following a court order due to their unauthorized construction on government and private land.
