Gracie Abrams Builds Mega-Penthouse in NYC's One Fifth Avenue
Grammy-nominated pop star Gracie Abrams is making waves not just in the music industry but in real estate as well. The budding mogul and daughter of Hollywood director J.J. Abrams has recently added another penthouse to her collection at One Fifth Avenue in Greenwich Village, a landmarked Art Deco structure designed by architect Harvey Wiley Corbett in 1926. The building, originally a luxury hotel, was converted into a residential co-op in 1976.
This isn’t Abrams’s first—or even second—purchase in the pre-war, Art Deco building. Since late 2024, the singer has acquired a total of three units. In early 2025, she bought a three-bedroom, three-bathroom residence on the 18th floor, which was combined from two separate units, for $5.5 million. The modern dwelling was initially listed for around $6 million but dropped to $5 million by the time Abrams closed the deal in December 2025. Additionally, Abrams purchased another unit on the 16th floor, a midcentury pad with parquet floors, from visual artist John Sennhauser for $1.95 million in November 2024.
Abrams’s newest apartment sits adjacent to her other 18th-floor unit. It consolidates two smaller apartments into a large one-bedroom space with two terraces. While her plans for the multiple penthouses are not yet clear, she could easily merge her same-level units into a mega-dwelling. If combined, the property would boast a total of five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and five terraces with stunning views of Washington Square Park.
One Fifth Avenue has a storied history and has been home to numerous A-listers and New York elites. Notable residents have included actor Jessica Lange, singer Patti Smith, musician Keith Richards, filmmaker Tim Burton, and actor Helena Bonham Carter. Blythe Danner, mother of Gwyneth Paltrow, bought an apartment on the 17th floor in 2007 for $3.125 million. The year prior, she sold her eighth-floor home, where Brad Pitt and Paltrow lived as a couple in the 1990s.
With Abrams investing nearly $12 million in the iconic building, it appears she has ambitious plans to transform her penthouses into a larger, more expansive abode. As for ideas for her lower-level apartment, a guest suite could be a perfect addition to her luxurious living space.
