Iran's President Issues Stern Warning to Trump Before SCO Summit with Xi Jinping and Putin
At the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, Iran, China, and other key members of the Global South have called for unity against Western unilateralism. Iranian President Pezeshkian delivered a stern warning, stating that the SCO is a vital platform to counter U.S. and EU dominance. This summit, led by China’s President Xi Jinping, aims to promote multilateralism, strategic cooperation, and a multipolar world order amid rising geopolitical tensions.
The SCO, which includes China, Russia, India, Pakistan, and several Central Asian countries, has become an increasingly influential body in international affairs. The summit’s agenda focuses on enhancing economic, security, and cultural ties among its members. President Pezeshkian’s warning comes at a critical juncture, as tensions between the West and the Global South continue to rise.
During his address, Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of collective action to address global challenges. He stated, “The unilateral actions of the United States and the European Union have caused significant instability and suffering in many parts of the world. The SCO provides a platform for us to forge a more equitable and just international order.”
President Xi Jinping, in his opening remarks, highlighted the need for a more inclusive and cooperative approach to global governance. He said, “In today’s interconnected world, no country can solve the complex challenges we face alone. The SCO offers a unique opportunity for us to work together, share resources, and promote peace and prosperity for all.”
Russian President Putin, another key figure at the summit, echoed Xi’s sentiments. He stressed the importance of strategic cooperation and mutual respect among nations. Putin stated, “We must stand together against the forces that seek to undermine our sovereignty and independence. The SCO is a beacon of hope for a more balanced and fair international system.”
The summit also saw the participation of other leaders from the Global South, including India’s Prime Minister Modi and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Khan. These leaders discussed various initiatives to strengthen economic ties and enhance security cooperation within the region.
One of the key outcomes of the summit was the adoption of a joint declaration, which outlines the SCO’s commitment to multilateralism and the promotion of a multipolar world order. The declaration calls for increased dialogue and cooperation on issues such as trade, investment, and counterterrorism.
In response to Pezeshkian’s warning, the United States and its allies have expressed concerns about the growing influence of the SCO. However, the leaders of the Global South remain committed to their vision of a more inclusive and equitable international order.
The 25th SCO Summit in Tianjin marks a significant step towards achieving this vision. As the world continues to grapple with complex challenges, the SCO’s role in promoting unity and cooperation among its members will be crucial in shaping the future of global governance.
