Karan Johar Showcases Omega’s Diamond-Encrusted Speedmaster at Cannes 2025

What happens when one of the most iconic chronographs in the world adorns the wrist of one of the most prominent fashion icons in the country? That’s the question that was answered via filmmaker Karan Johar’s latest outing where he can be seen sporting the newest launch from Omega’s Speedmaster 38mm collection. The occasion was the premiere of his production venture — Neeraj Ghaywan helmed Homebound starring Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor — in the Un Certain Regard section at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival.

Karan Johar paired the prized timepiece with an ivory bandhgala by Manish Malhotra. This outfit choice not only highlighted his sartorial prowess but also complemented the elegance of the watch. The Speedmaster is primarily known for being a sports watch, but its portfolio has recently diversified to bring a more luxury-oriented aesthetic to the collection.

The watch in question is a diamond-encrusted version, featuring a stainless steel case and bracelet, a bezel consisting of 52 diamonds, and a distinct olive-green dial with white subdials. The borders of these subdials also feature exclusive diamonds. Turn it around and you can even find a singular diamond placed inside the watch’s polished crown.

Two models can also be had in 18K Sedna Gold, featuring a chocolate brown PVD dial with contrasting horizontal silver subdials. Another two are made from 18K Moonshine Gold, showcasing a green PVD dial with the same subdial design. Completing the lineup are four stainless steel models, available with either dial color. All versions can be paired with either an alligator leather strap or a metal bracelet, offering a refined and customizable look.

Another visual marker of a 38mm series watch is its screw-in caseback stamped with a seahorse medallion. Underneath it lies Omega’s Caliber 3300 with a 52-hour power reserve. The green PVD dial features horizontally aligned oval subdials with a silvery finish, complemented by a vertically oriented oval date window at 6 o’clock. The hour and minute hands are diamond-polished, rhodium-plated, and filled with white Super-LumiNova that emits a green glow in low light.
