The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has signed a contract with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for the design, supply, and construction of the bullet train track in Maharashtra. The project includes a 157-km stretch and four stations.

The bullet train track being constructed by L&T in Maharashtra is 157 km long, stretching from the Mumbai Bullet Train Station to Zaroli village near the Maharashtra-Gujarat border.
The contract with L&T includes the construction of four stations and a rolling stock depot at Thane, in addition to the track works.
Over 430 Indian engineers have been trained by the Japan Railway Technical Service (JARTS) in Gujarat.
As of 8th September 2025, 320 km of viaduct construction has been completed in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) project.
The MAHSR project uses Japanese Shinkansen-style ballast-less slab track systems, which include components such as RC track beds, cement asphalt mortar (CAM), pre-cast slabs, and rail fasteners.
