Maharashtra Aims to Provide 30 Lakh Affordable Homes by 2030
Real Estate Maharashtra:In a landmark declaration at the Housing and Infrastructure Summit 2024, Atul Save, Maharashtra Housing Minister, announced that the state is committed to providing almost 30 lakh affordable homes by the year 2030. This ambitious plan targets the masses belonging to economically weaker sections and lower-income groups.

Atul Save, in his keynote address at a housing summit held in Mumbai, said that the state is committed to making qualitative affordable housing accessible to everyone in Maharashtra. Studies have shown a deficit of nearly 11 lakh houses, and this initiative aims to bridge the gap between demand and supply of housing stock.

Valsa Nair Singh, IAS, Additional Housing Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, emphasized the importance of affordability and sustainability in her address. She stated that affordability and sustainability are at the heart of every housing project undertaken by the state. The state is committed to bringing in green technology and AI-powered innovation into the housing sector to make cities smarter and more liveable.

Singh also highlighted the reduction in complaints about the housing lottery system due to the use of advanced technology. The new IHLMS system used for the sale of houses is completely online and keeps no scope for human intervention.

Sanjeev Jaiswal, IAS, Vice President & Chief Executive Officer, MHADA, spoke about the authority's long-standing mission and the future of redevelopment in the city. MHADA's 75-year journey has been about more than just building homes; it's about creating communities. The authority is focusing on cluster redevelopments in congested urban areas, providing modern, sustainable housing while preserving tenant rights.

Speaking to Realty+, Sanjeev Jaiswal said, Lot of housing stock will come in Mumbai in the next 10 years. The amendment of certain laws has empowered MHADA to play the role of a developer and also take up stalled projects and get them implemented.

MHADA's upcoming projects in areas like Abhyuday Nagar and GTB Nagar aim to bring transformational change to the city's housing landscape.
