Real Estate Mumbai:The Maharashtra government has announced a slew of benefits for various sections of the population in its Budget 2024. One of the major highlights is the reduction in petrol and diesel prices in the Mumbai region. Deputy CM Ajit Pawar announced that the tax on petrol will be reduced from 26% to 25%, making it cheaper by 65 paise per liter. Similarly, the tax on diesel will be decreased from 24% to 21%, resulting in a price reduction of Rs 2.60 per liter.

The move is expected to cost the state exchequer Rs 200 crore. Additionally, the government has announced that three gas cylinders will be provided free of cost to all households under the CM Anna Chhatra Yojana.

Farmers will also benefit from the budget, with the government announcing a Rs 5,000 per hectare bonus for crops such as cotton and soybean. Milk-producing farmers will receive a bonus of Rs 5 per liter, even after July 1, 2024.

Women will receive financial assistance of Rs 1,500 per month under the 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin' scheme, which is expected to cost the state Rs 46,000 crore annually. The government has also announced the establishment of 100 special fast-track courts to address cases of crimes against women.

In the healthcare sector, the government has announced free medical check-ups and treatment for warkaris, as well as the formation of a warkari development corporation to support the community's growth. The state has also increased the health cover under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana from Rs 1.5 lakhs to Rs 5 lakhs.

Other highlights of the budget include a housing scheme to provide affordable housing to people, a bamboo plantation drive, and a textile park to boost the textile industry. The state has also announced plans to establish a scuba diving center in Sindhudurg to promote tourism in the coastal region.
