Maharashtra Cabinet Approves 1,000-Acre MIDC Estate in Indapur to Boost Industrial Growth
Mumbai/Pune, 10th February 2026: In a move set to reshape the industrial landscape of Pune district, the Maharashtra Cabinet has approved the transfer of 1,000 acres of land in Ratnapuri Mala, Indapur taluka, to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) for the creation of a new industrial estate.
The decision was taken during the first cabinet meeting following Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar’s assumption of office and is being viewed as a significant step toward fulfilling the long-standing industrial development vision associated with the late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
The proposal to establish an industrial hub in Indapur had been consistently advocated by Ajit Pawar, who saw the taluka’s strategic potential for industrial expansion. Local MLA and Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharane had also actively pursued the demand for industrialisation in the region.
With cabinet approval now in place, land belonging to the Maharashtra State Farming Corporation at Ratnapuri Mala will be formally transferred to MIDC, enabling the planning and development of industrial infrastructure.
Officials anticipate that the new MIDC estate will attract significant industrial investment, not only in Indapur but also in nearby areas such as Baramati and the broader Pune district. The project is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities for local youth while encouraging the growth of small and medium enterprises.
The development is also likely to strengthen supporting infrastructure, stimulate rural entrepreneurship, and bring renewed economic momentum to the region.
The cabinet’s approval aligns with Maharashtra’s broader strategy of promoting balanced industrial growth beyond traditional urban centres. Policymakers believe the Indapur MIDC project will help position the taluka as a rising industrial destination in western Maharashtra.
