Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has taken a significant step towards industrial development by acquiring 20,431 acres of land. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, during a review meeting of infrastructure projects, was informed that 8,969 acres of land is already available with various departments. The CM emphasized the growing demand for industrial investment in the state and directed the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to make land available to entrepreneurs.
Along with the major cities of Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur, the demand for land from investors is increasing in regions such as Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Solapur. Fadnavis stressed that the government will provide all necessary assistance to facilitate industrial growth. This includes accelerating the land acquisition process and ensuring that land is made available from contiguous areas that are not forested.
Fadnavis also reviewed the ongoing land acquisition process for several MSRDC (Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation) projects, such as the Shaktipeeth Expressway, Virar-Alibaug Multimodal Corridor, Nagpur-Gondiya Expressway, Bhandara-Gadchiroli Expressway, Nagpur-Chandrapur Expressway, Navegaon-Surjagad Mineral Corridor, and Jalna-Nanded Expressway. He directed that all ongoing projects in the state should be planned to be completed within three years.
To achieve this, the process of land acquisition should be expedited, and land should be acquired from maximum contiguous areas that are not forest areas. Additionally, a proposal should be submitted to transfer government lands from various departments for industrial use free of cost. This will provide plots to entrepreneurs at lower rates, thereby boosting industrial investment and employment generation in the state.
Industries Minister Uday Samant clarified that no forest land was acquired during the land acquisition process in the Konkan region. The government's focus remains on sustainable development and ensuring that industrial growth does not come at the cost of environmental degradation.
This move by the Maharashtra government is expected to attract more investors and create a conducive environment for industrial expansion, ultimately leading to economic growth and job creation in the state.
