The committee is being formed to create a uniform framework for recording individual apartment ownership in land records, which will help streamline property transactions and loans.
Currently, individual flat owners' names are not recorded in land revenue documents, leading to difficulties in securing bank loans, delays in redeveloping buildings, and legal disputes.
The Maharashtra Land Revenue Code, 1966, and new vertical property rules are being considered to create a standardized approach for recording apartment ownership.
The committee includes senior government officials such as Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Vikas Kharge, Additional Chief Secretary (Cooperation) Pravin Darade, and Principal Secretary (Law and Judiciary) Suvarna Kewale.
The initiative is expected to streamline mortgage approvals, reduce legal ambiguities in property transactions, and help resolve bottlenecks in redevelopment projects.
