Maharashtra RERA Flags 15 Panvel Projects Over Delayed Possession
By GeoSquare News Desk · Published 2026-11-01
The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has issued show-cause notices to at least 15 projects in Panvel and the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) area for missing possession deadlines. The action affects around 3,200 homebuyers who are still waiting for their flats beyond the promised date.
What the Notices Mean for Buyers
Developers have been asked to explain the delay and submit a revised completion schedule. If their response is not satisfactory, RERA can impose penalties and order them to pay interest to buyers for every month of delay. This is expected to push builders to expedite work and hand over possession at the earliest.
Panvel Market Remains Active
Despite the regulatory scrutiny, new project registrations in Panvel continue to remain elevated, driven by strong demand for affordable housing. The area's improving connectivity and proximity to Navi Mumbai's business hubs make it a preferred choice for end-users and investors alike. However, the latest RERA action is a reminder for buyers to check the project's RERA status and delivery track record before investing.
