Thane: Two individuals have been booked for allegedly defrauding a financial planner of Rs 49.3 lakh by using forged land documents, according to police. The scam unfolded over a period of several years, from December 2015 to July 2023, during which the duo used fraudulent documents to lure the complainant, Rajesh Subhash Jadhav (34), into a partnership for construction works.
The Manpada police station official stated that the accused individuals used meticulously forged land documents to convince Jadhav that they owned valuable plots of land. They promised him a lucrative partnership in construction projects, leading to the financial planner investing a substantial amount of money.
Despite the significant loss, the police have managed to book the suspects for cheating and criminal breach of trust. However, the accused have not yet been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
This case highlights the growing issue of property fraud in India, particularly in states like Maharashtra, where the real estate market is highly competitive and often rife with scams. Financial planners and investors are advised to exercise extreme caution and verify all documents through official channels before entering into any partnership or investment.
The Manpada police station is urging anyone with additional information or similar experiences to come forward. They are working diligently to track down the suspects and ensure that justice is served for the victim.
In the meantime, Rajesh Subhash Jadhav is left to deal with the financial and emotional repercussions of the scam. He has expressed his disappointment and frustration, emphasizing the need for stricter regulations and better enforcement to prevent such incidents in the future.
The police are also conducting a broader review of similar cases in the region to identify any patterns or connections that might help in apprehending the suspects and preventing further instances of fraud.
