If a real estate agent fails to pass the competency examination, MahaRERA will suspend their registration. Agents are required to undergo training and obtain a registration certificate to maintain their status.
In the January 2025 examination, 7,624 candidates took the test, and 6,755 of them passed, achieving an 89% success rate.
In addition to the competency examination, MahaRERA has directed real estate agents to make half-yearly progress reports public, providing information on projects where they are designated by developers to handle sales.
MahaRERA has issued guidelines for homebuyers to consider before investing in a property. These guidelines emphasize the importance of conducting thorough due diligence and dealing with registered real estate agents. Homebuyers are also advised to monitor project progress through the MahaRERA website and file complaints if necessary.
