MahaRERA stands for the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority. It is a regulatory body responsible for overseeing the real estate sector in the state of Maharashtra, ensuring compliance with the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 (RERA).
MahaRERA has mandated that real estate developers prominently display the QR code and registration number in all property advertisements, including print, digital, and outdoor media.
This mandate is important because it enhances transparency and accountability in the real estate market. It helps homebuyers verify the authenticity of a project and the developer's compliance with RERA, reducing the risk of fraud and legal issues.
The QR code will direct users to the MahaRERA website, where they can find details about the project, such as the developer's name, project name, stage of construction, compliance status, and any legal issues.
Developers who do not comply with the mandate will face penalties, including fines and suspension of their registration. MahaRERA has set up a helpline and online portal to address complaints and provide assistance to homebuyers.
