Mandatory Precast Construction Policy for Mumbai Real Estate: A Step Toward Sustainable Development

By GeoSquare News Desk · Published 2025-03-15

The Maharashtra government is taking a significant step towards sustainable urban development by working on a policy to make precast construction mandatory for real estate firms in Mumbai. This initiative, spearheaded by Minister of Urban Development Eknath Shinde, is part of a broader strategy to reduce air pollution and promote eco-friendly building practices.

Precast construction involves the manufacturing of building components off-site in a controlled environment, which are then transported to the construction site for assembly. This method has several advantages over traditional construction techniques, including reduced construction time, lower waste generation, and improved quality control.

According to Minister Eknath Shinde, the policy is expected to be implemented in the coming months.
