The PMGP Colony in Jogeshwari, Mumbai, was originally constructed under the Prime Minister's Grant Project (PMGP) between 1990 and 1992. It consists of 17 buildings with 942 residential and 42 non-residential tenements.
The PMGP Colony is being redeveloped because the buildings are in a severely dilapidated condition, posing safety risks to nearly 1,000 families. The redevelopment aims to provide modern, larger homes to these residents.
The redevelopment project is being overseen by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) under the guidance of the Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, Sanjeev Jaiswal.
The redevelopment project is expected to be completed within approximately three and a half years from the start of the construction phase.
After the redevelopment, residents will receive modern homes of 450 sq ft carpet area, a significant upgrade from their current 180 sq ft units.
