MHADA Mumbai Board Lottery Sees Overwhelming Response with 1.34 Lakh Registrations
Real Estate Mumbai:The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has closed the application process for the lottery of 2,030 tenements for its Mumbai board, with a total of 1,34,350 applications received.

The inventory in this year's lottery is priced between Rs 29 lakh to Rs 6.8 crore, with the prices being reduced for some of the units during the application process. The units are located in various areas in the island city and suburbs, including Tardeo, Juhu, Vikhroli, Goregaon, Malad, and others.

Of the total number of applicants, around 1.14 lakh paid the earnest money deposit (EMD) provided. MHADA officials said that the number of applicants who paid the deposit will increase, as various payments are settled in a day or two. Only those who have paid the EMD are eligible for an allotment, MHADA officials added, with the payments varying according to the categories applied to - economically weaker sections, low-income group, middle-income group, and high-income group.

Of the 2,030 units that are part of the lottery process, a total of 1,038 units are reserved for the general public, while the rest are reserved for scheduled castes and scheduled and nomadic tribes, current and ex-servicemen and their families, elected representatives, central and state government employees, journalists, artists, and others. Generally, units reserved for the general public and scheduled castes see the most number of applications.

The online lottery is scheduled for October 8.
