The breakdown was caused by a technical issue, exacerbated by the overcrowding of the train due to suspended local train services due to heavy rains.
Around 200 passengers were stranded in the monorail train.
Key officials involved in the rescue operation included Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, and the MMRDA Commissioner.
Rescue teams from the BMC, fire department, and police were deployed to evacuate passengers safely. Medical checks were also conducted for all affected passengers.
