Monsoon Relief in Sight: Maharashtra to Receive Southwest Monsoon in 8-10 Days
Real Estate Mumbai:The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the southwest monsoon will take 8-10 days to cover Maharashtra after its arrival in Kerala. The southwest monsoon is expected to reach Kerala in 24 hours, marking the beginning of relief from intense heat for the region.

According to Sunil Kamble, Director of the IMD in Mumbai, the current temperature of 35-36 degrees Celsius is normal for the summer season, but the high humidity of 80-90% makes it feel like 40 degrees. In Maharashtra, the temperature range is between 38-40 degrees Celsius.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's office has stated that the southwest monsoon is expected to reach Mumbai by June 10 or 11, and cover the entire state in the next four days. The CM has also instructed civic bodies to form their own disaster management teams to operate as first responders in situations like landslides or floods during the monsoon.

IMD chief Mrutyunjay Mohapatra has predicted above-normal rainfall this monsoon, with the South West Monsoon rainfall over the country expected to be 106% of the long-period average with a model error of 4%. The weather office has also attributed the above-normal rain to La Nina conditions, which are expected to set in between August and September.

Heatwave conditions across the country are likely to subside from May 30, with severe heatwave conditions expected across northwest India for the next three days.

The southwest monsoon is a crucial weather phenomenon that brings relief from intense heat to the Indian subcontinent. The monsoon's arrival is marked by its onset over Kerala, and as it moves northwards, it brings much-needed rain to the region.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is the national weather service of India, responsible for predicting and monitoring weather patterns across the country.
