The eviction was primarily coordinated by BJP MLA Ameet Satam, who worked closely with the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), the police, and other concerned agencies.
The illegal occupants had been occupying the flats for about 10 years, since around 2014.
They faced numerous challenges, including legal hurdles and bureaucratic red tape, which they had to navigate to achieve the eviction.
The eviction is significant as it restores their homes to the original flat owners, who had been rendered homeless and living in difficult conditions for a decade.
Ameet Satam has been involved in several pro-people initiatives, including resolving issues with the Basera SRA Co-operative Housing Society in Andheri and halting a builder’s Slum Rehabilitation scheme at Juhu Koliwada.
